The summer camp staffs are made up of Scouts like you. Most are Eagle Scouts. They spend the entire summer at the Ranch making sure that every Scout has a great time. The staff runs the commissary and issues your food, the Trading Post, and there is a quartermaster to make sure that you and your patrol have all the equipment you need.
The program staff operates the program areas; aquatics, fieldsports, nature, scoutcraft, and voyageur, as well as the Older Scout program. They will serve as the merit badge counselors for most of the badges available at camp. They will be the instructors for swimming, lifesaving and boating. They will teach you to fire a rifle and shoot a bow properly and safely. They will show you fun things to do and learn in the scoutcraft and nature areas.
Your campsite will have a troop counselor (TC). His job is to greet you upon arrival on Sunday afternoon and guide you through your medical recheck, commissary orientation, and swim check. He will be on your campsite to make sure that your patrol is set-up and ready to cook your first meal on Monday morning. Your TC will eat with one of your troop's patrols on Monday morning, just to be sure you get started with a bang.
Your TC will be on your campsite every day to check in with you. If you go on a canoe float, he will be your guide. And when you check-out on Saturday morning, he will be there to help you prepare the campsite for the troop that will come in after you.
