CHADS Coalition: The mission of CHADS (Communities Healing Adolescent Depression and Suicide) Coalition is to advance the prevention and knowledge of adolescent suicide through research, advocacy and education. CHADS is named after Eagle Scout Chad McCord. Contact: 314-952-2046.
Cardinals: The Cardinals are looking for friendly volunteers from local colleges, community organizations, church groups, families, or individuals to join the "For a Greener Game" initiative and help collect recyclable materials from fans throughout each game at Busch Stadium. Lafayette Industries is looking for troops to take on some property improvement tasks to help them in their mission of providing a safe and pleasant work environment to adults with developmental disabilities. Possible tasks include litter clean-up, weed control and replanting, and stripping/replacing safety tape in their workshop.

The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers willing to make a difference this holiday season. It is working with the BSA to support the "Good Turn for America" initiative.
"Good Turn for America" is a call to service by the BSA to address the critical issues of hunger, health, and inadequate housing in our communities. The Salvation Army is asking Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops and Venturing crews to help by volunteering during the Army's holiday campaign. Service hours may be used towards Scout rank advancement requirements or Scouts and units may use the hours to qualify for "Good Turn for America" recognition.
Local Salvation Army Corps need youth and leaders to help with:
+ conducting, shopping for and helping deliver Angel Tree gifts for children
+ preparing and serving Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for those who are alone
or homeless during the holiday season
+ boxing food collected as part of Wehrenberg Theaters "Cans Film Festival" on Saturday, Dec. 6

The Willows at Brooking Park: A gardening club of residents at The Willows, 307 S. Woods Mill Rd., in Chesterfield, Mo., is seeking for volunteers to assist with planting trees. Contact: Mick Crawford at (314) 218-2600.
Greenway Network is a non-profit environmental group based in St. Charles County with projects throughout the confluence region. Several opportunities are available for Scouts to get service hours throughout the year, including the upcoming Race for the Rivers Festival on August 29, 2009. Volunteers are needed to set up and take down tents, assist vendors, pick up trash, staff activity booths, and serve as runners for the spotters and communications booths. Part of the festival includes a water quality monitoring session from 11 a.m. until noon for all Scout volunteers, which fulfills requirements at most ranks.
A Cub Scout troop interested in doing a fundraiser is also needed to set up and staff the Rain Gutter Regatta as an activity booth. Other demonstration and sales booth opportunities are also available. For more information, please visit their site or call (636) 379-6333.
