Spring & Fall STEM Events

Upcoming Spring Events:

 

Who: Scouts BSA, parents, and scout leaders

Where: Saint Louis Science Center- Free parking available at planetarium

When: Saturday, March 14th, 2020 8:30 am to 3:00 pm (sign-in will not begin before 8:30)

What: Join the experts at the Saint Louis Science Center to earn the Splash! NOVA Award! Scouts will spend the day working, creating, and problem solving as they earn the NOVA Award.

Cost: $25 per Scout. Parents/adult leaders are free. Registration closes after March 9th .


Who:  Scouts BSA and parents (male and female camp site and facilities will be available)

WhereCenter for American Archeology in Kampsville, IL

WhenApril 17- April 19, 2020 (overnight camping – schedule is below)

What: Earn your Archeology Merit Badge at a real field school! Scouts will enjoy a weekend packed with fun programming and educational experiences. This one-of-a-kind event includes camping, flint-knapping, spear-throwing, and participating in real, guided archeological research. Scouts will get to assist the Center for American Archeology on a site visit, participating in field work and digs that contribute to archeological research and knowledge.
What’s included: All program materials, curriculum, & instructors, lunch and dinner Saturday, space to camp with bathroom facilities nearby.

Cost: $45 per BSA Scout, $20 per adult


Join our friends at The Magic House, MADE for Kids for a fun and creative day of Adventures! MADE for Kids is The Magic House’s new hands-on makerspace located in St. Louis City between the Central West End and the Loop.

Who: Lions, Tigers, and parents.

Where: The Magic House, MADE for Kids- 5127 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108

When: Saturday April 18. 8:30 am to 10:30 am.

What: Guided activities to fulfill specific Lion and Tiger Adventure requirements and access to MADE for Kids for the rest of the day!

Lions Adventure Advancement:

During your time at The Magic House, MADE for Kids, Lions will be able to complete the Gizmos and Gadgets adventure, as well as fulfill parts of the Build it Up, Knock it Down adventure.

Tigers Adventure Advancement:

During your time at The Magic House, MADE for Kids, Tigers will be able to complete the Tiger-iffic adventure, as well as fulfill parts of the Stories in Shapes adventure.

Cost: $15.00 per Scout – Includes 1 Free Adult

 


Scoutbotics Orientation Day is returning! This time with workshops for Scouts BSA and Cub Scouts. Scouts BSA can join us for a free event for past Scoutbotics attendees or Scouts BSA interested in robotics. Cubs Scouts can participate in a paid coding workshop! Click here to register.

For Scouts BSA youth interested in programming robots and past Scouts BSA participants at Scoutbotics events. For returning scouts, if you have one of our robots and bring it in working condition, we will give you the ability to control your robot with a TV remote and you will learn to use your robot to preform activities beyond the larger competition. If you are not a returning scout, feel free to come explore robotics and programming with this free event. This will be a practice and learn session to make the most out of your bot and prepare you for the next event/tournament of Scoutbotics. Only 25 spot available so sign up soon! Cub Scout Coding Workshop:

Saturday, May 2, 2020
9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

(Ages 7-11) $30 for a morning of introductory coding and a chance to learn about robotics and computers. Volunteers from the Saint Louis Student Robotics Association will lead a workshop where Cub Scouts can program their own bluetooth-enabled microbit and build a Tetrix Prime robot!  Attendees will get to take home their Element 14 Micro:Bit Go Kit and can continue to program it with free software. They will not take home the Tetrix Prime robot. Lunch is not provided, Scouts will be dismissed at Noon.
