Andrew Zahn was named Deputy Scout Executive/COO for the Greater St. Louis Area Council in November 2012. In his role, Andy leads the management staff in day-to-day operations and provides leadership to strategic initiatives and the effective ongoing organization of the Greater St. Louis Area Council.
Since arriving in St. Louis, Andy was instrumental in the development of the council’s 2013-2017 strategic plan which has led to new program development, better utilization of council properties, and an increase in local brand awareness. He also guided the implementation of BSA Outfitters, the council’s new 2,500 square-foot Scout shop and retail destination.
Andy, a Certified Fund Raising Executive, came to GSLAC after spending six years at the Dan Beard Council in Cincinnati, Ohio where was a Field Director from 2007-2010 before being promoted to Director of Development and Marketing. He began his career with the Boy Scouts of America in 2002 as a District Executive for the Hawkeye Council in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and was promoted to District Director in the same council.
An Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor, Andy is a recipient of the Order of the Arrow Founders Award and Order of the Arrow National Distinguished Service Award. A native of Amana, Iowa, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Northern Iowa. Andy and his wife, Kimberly, have a daughter, Reagan.
