Dreams of Summer Camp Come True For New Boy Scout
July 11, 2017
For Cub Scouts that just crossed over into Boy Scouts, 2017 marks their first Boy Scout summer camp! Zack Hodges of Troop 2 in the Shawnee District sent us a video of what his plans are for his first year in Boy Scouts:
Q: When did you join Scouting?
A: I officially joined Scouting when I was in first grade but I’ve been involved in Scouting ever since I can remember because of my brother. The reason I joined is because I wanted to be just like my brother.
Q: Where are you heading to 2017 summer camp?
A: I’m going to Camp Lewallen. I am going to be doing voyageur, swimming merit badge, leather merit badge, and a couple other merit badges.
Q: What are you most looking forward to?
A: Probably just being back at Lewallen because that was the first camp I considered a summer camp other than the Webelos summer camps.
Q: As your first trip to Boy Scout summer camp, is there anything you are a little nervous about?
A: Well, seeing that I’ve gone to an entire year of Webelos summer camp, I really have nothing to be worried about.
Q: Do you have any big plans for your first year of Boy Scouts?
A: I do have a couple goals. I’d like to get at least four Eagle-required merit badges and just a general 10 merit badges.
