Ron Green is entering his sixth year as the Scout Executive/CEO of the Greater St. Louis Area Council. Headquartered in St. Louis, the council covers 51 different counties in the Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois and St. Louis Metropolitan areas and has more than 66,000 members and nearly 15,000 adult volunteers making it one of the largest Boy Scout councils in the nation.
Since arriving in St. Louis, Ron has been instrumental in developing the council’s nationally-recognized STEM program. St. Louis hired the BSA’s first full-time STEM director and is also responsible for holding the program’s first STEM summer camp. In addition to progress in STEM, Ron has helped secure capital improvements for the council’s four camp properties, revitalizing the St. Louis camp experience. His efforts have also led to a new 16,000 square-foot dining hall at S bar F Scout Ranch transforming the property into a year-round program facility for the first time in its 50-year history.
Ron is also dedicated to giving every youth the opportunity to join Scouting. In 2012, the council partnered with local community leaders to form Future Search. The group embarked on an in-depth analysis of urban and hard-to-reach communities to develop a better approach to provide Scouting in these areas.
With more than 30 years of experience as a professional Scouter, Ron, an Eagle Scout, has also served Scout Executive roles in Pennington, New Jersey, Princeton, New Jersey and Columbus, Ohio before arriving in St. Louis in March 2011.
Ron and his wife Kathy have two children: a daughter, Caitlin, and a son, Thomas.
