Scout BSA Troops, Venturing Crews, and individual Scouts and Venturers have six summer camps to choose from in the Greater St. Louis Area Council.

Each camp offers unique programs with fantastic customer service. There are also several specialty camps that youth can attend individually.

Registration for 2022 Scouts BSA and Venturing Summer Camp opens on Monday, September 13th at 9:00 AM. At this time, troops and crews may select the week, camp, and campsite they plan to attend. Please be prepared with an approximate number of youth and adults to enter while registering. These numbers can be adjusted later. A $100 non-refundable deposit is due at this time. Individual payments, campership applications (financial assistance), and merit badge registration will begin on January 3, 2022.

Camp Gamble

Camp Gamble Highlights

Camp Gamble, on the S-F Scout Ranch, sits on the north shore of the 270+ acre Nims Lake and features a traditional, patrol-method cooking dining style. Scouts will grow as a team as they work together to prepare their own meals throughout the week. They will also get to participate in a variety of programs like  water skiing, shooting sports, kayaking, small boat sailing, standup paddle boards, STEM activities, competitions, rock climbing, and Huck’s Cove Water Park!

Camp Famous Eagle Highlights

Home to Leadership Hall, a state-of-the-art dining hall facility, Camp Famous Eagle provides all of the great programs that the S-F Scout Ranch is known for. Campers will get to enjoy the 270+ acre Nims Lake, renowned for its water sport activities and great fishing. STEM activities, shooting sports, a great 1st year camper program, and game nights are just a few of the programs that Famous Eagle has to offer.

Swift Base Highlights

Every week at Swift includes more activities than you can possibly complete. Rock Climbing, High Challenge Course, Rapelling, Low Challenge Course, Swimming, Sailing, SUPs, Equestrian Programs, Mountain Bikes Course and Trail Rides, Ascending, Mountain Boards, and more. Then on top of all that fun, each week has a theme that expands the program offerings at Swift.

Rhodes France Scout Reservation

Rhodes France Highlights

Rhodes France Scout Reservation is a 640 acre camp in Central Illinois featuring 13 campsites, 2 lakes, and an outstanding shooting sports area.  Other features of the camp include an inground swimming pool, canoeing, rowing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboards, a beautiful chapel, and a large campfire arena overlooking one of the lakes.  Special programs offered include STEM related merit badges, BSA Pistol Safety and Marksmanship Program, a great First-Year Scout Program, and much more!

Climbing Tower

Camp Lewallen Highlights

Camp Lewallen is nestled in the Ozark Plateau in the shadow of Mt. Logan. This beautiful, dining hall style camp sits along the St. Francis River and includes programs like all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), shooting sports, a top-of-the-line rock climbing complex, river float trips, and STEM activities. Troops will also get to compete during the Wednesday Water Carnival and try their hand at cooking competitions!

Ranger Program Highlights

"Rangers Rule The Ranch!" If your Scout is looking for a week packed with adventure, look no further.

The Ranger Program is a one-of-a-kind, week-long, back country camping adventure. Scouts spend the week backpacking to various outpost campsites across the 3,500+ acre S-F Scout Ranch.

Activities can include blacksmithing, challenge courses, wilderness survival skill practice, black powder rifle shooting, fishing, canoeing across the 270 acre Nims Lake, and much more!

Designed for youth age 14 or older, or in their 4th summer of camp, the Ranger Program is a great option as an additional week of camp. All leadership is provided so Scouts can attend on their own or with a group. The Ranger Program is also a great preparation opportunity for a trek at Philmont Scout Ranch.

STEM Week Highlights

STEM Week is an extraordinary experience for Scouts full of many Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics based merit badges and over-the-top activities in addition to all the great outdoor activities that Camp May provides, including a brand new climbing tower, swimming pool, shooting sports, and more.

Each day Scouts will attend one merit badge (over to 40 to choose from) or one NOVA activity class. They may have the opportunity to work on other badges in the evening as well.

Afternoon and evenings will include other fun STEM programs and exhibits to experience (drones, 3D printing, things that go boom... you get the idea). If you love the outdoors but also want more in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, this is the week to be out at camp!

Catholic Adventure Week Highlights

Join us for a week to camp, live, and grow in your faith. The Greater St. Louis Area Council’s Catholic Committee is providing a great faith-based program at Camp Famous Eagle on the S-F Scout Ranch. Scouts will also get to enjoy all of the traditional aspects camp offers, including water sports on Nim’s Lake, rock climbing and rappelling, horseback riding, and a wide range of merit badge opportunities. National Youth Leadership Training

Camp Sakima

What is NYLT?

NYLT is a six-day course that delivers training in a troop and patrol outdoor setting with an emphasis on immediate application of learning in a fun environment. Interconnecting concepts and work processes are introduced early, built upon, and aided by the use of memory aids, which allows participants to understand and employ the leadership skills much faster.

Why attend NYLT?

Through this week long outdoor training. Scouts grow and improve their leadership skills while following the guidelines of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Scouts earning the NYLT Shield are better prepared to interact with adult leaders and face the challenges and demands ahead.

Eagle Trail Camp

Scouts Attend Merit Badge Class

Eagle Trail Camp Highlights

The trail to earning the Eagle rank can be long and full of hard work. Held at Camp Famous Eagle, home to the state-of-the-art Leadership Hall dining facility, Eagle Trail Camp is designed to give Scouts a helpful boost along that path.

During this week-long camp, Scouts will spend the mornings working on Eagle required merit badges of their choice. Afternoons are full of camp fun that can include shooting sports, swimming, canoeing, mountain biking, rock climbing, stand-up paddle boards, small boat sailing, trips to the Huck's Cove waterpark and more!

Evenings at Eagle Trail Camp are packed with campfires, challenges and competitions, and various Eagle related seminars. These seminars cover topics such as the process of moving from Life to Eagle Scout and tips and tricks planning your Eagle project.

Scouts must be 13 years old and have reached First Class rank by the start of camp. All leadership at Eagle Trail Camp is provided so Scouts can attend alone or in a group.

Eagle Trail Camp is great opportunity for Scouts to attend a second, or even third, week of summer camp!

Scout Rides a horse

Horse Camp Highlights

Spend a week at an advanced riding camp cantering around the trails of the over 2,300 acre Beaumont Scout Reservation!

This camp is a great option for Scouts who have earned the Horsemanship merit badge or taken riding lessons and are looking for a fun fast-paced time to challenge their skills. Play games in the riding ring, take trail rides to the highest points of the property, and show off your advanced skills at the Cavalcade show at the end of the week. Other activities can include rock wall climbing, shooting, swimming, cavalcade training, ropes course, campfires, and more.

Participants will need to have earned their Horsemanship merit badge or pass a riding test. To schedule a riding test please contact Ranger/Wrangler Jordan Mutert at 636-362-9768 or email her at jordan.mutert@scouting.org.

Designed for youth at least 13 and completed with the 8th grade or older.

STEM on CAMPus is a unique “camp” experience where Scouts BSA get a taste for college life! Sleep in the dorms, eat in the dining halls, and have fun each evening with a variety of activities including campus rec center nights! Scouts have the opportunity to earn up to 6 Merit Badges or NOVAs at each camp.

Adult Summer Camp Highlights

New in 2021, join us for Adult Summer Camp at Swift High Adventure Base! You work hard all year to provide a great program to the youth of your unit, now take an opportunity to enjoy an extended weekend at camp designed especially for you. Campers will get to enjoy a variety of staffed camp activities like rock climbing, horseback riding, and water skiing/tubing. We have a special menu designed specifically for this camp, as well as the option to enjoy offsite excursions and evening entertainment. 4th of July Family Camp

Swift High Adventure Base

What: A two-night camp outing for the whole family Where: Swift High Adventure Base @ S-F Scout Ranch.

When: July 2-4 or July 5-7. Please plan to arrive between 5:00 – 7:00 PM on your check-in day and depart by 3:00 PM on your checkout day.

Price: $20/night per family. Pay in the camp office upon arrival.

Lodging: Families will stay in the provided canvas wall tents on wooden frames. The tents can sleep up to three. Electricity is not available on the campsites. Families are welcome to bring their own tents, if preferred.

Program:

  • Staff will be onsite to provide lifeguarding for aquatic activities, including swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. All participants must complete a BSA Swimmers Test (see reverse for details). Participants not completing the Swimmers Test will be allowed to swim and boat according to their ability level. The hours for aquatic activities are 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
  • BB Guns and/or Archery will be available upon request.
  • Staff will conduct Pontoon tours of Nims Lake in the evening for anyone that is interested.
  • Staff will lead a short hike to Castle Rock in the evening for anyone that is interested.

Meals: Meals are the responsibility of each family.

Additional Information: Swift High Adventure Base features a large outdoor pavilion that families are welcome to use. Swift Lodge is available for anyone needing internet access. The lodge also has the camp store that all are welcome to visit.
