American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Do you need training for a lifeguarding job this summer?
BSA Lifeguard is professional-level training that meets the requirements of government agencies for professional lifeguards at regulated swimming activities. This course includes American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding with CPR and First Aid certification in addition to BSA Lifeguard certification. Those who want to work the waterfront at any BSA summer camp need this training. The course includes 7 ½ hours of online pre-work that must be completed before the first class session. Online pre-work details are provided at the orientation session.

- Cost: $150
- Who: Any older youth (minimum age 15) or registered adult with strong swimming skills. We need a minimum of 4 registrations to hold a course. The courses are limited to 10 participants per course.

BSA Aquatics Supervision Training
BSA Aquatics Supervision Swimming and Water Rescue
This hands-on performance-based training covers the skills needed for Safe Swim Defense at the unit level. The course fee includes a copy of Aquatics Supervision, the required textbook.

- Who: Must be able to complete BSA swimmer classification test, minimum age 15

BSA Aquatics Supervision Paddle Craft Safety Basic
This hands-on performance-based training covers the skills needed for Safety Afloat at the unit level. The course fee includes a copy of Aquatics Supervision, the required textbook.

- Who: Minimum age 15

BSA Aquatics Supervision Paddle Craft Safety River
This course builds on the Basic program to include moving water skills, as well as knowledge, needed for a unit leader to confidently supervise canoeing or kayaking excursions on moving water. Persons completing the training should be even better able to access their preparation to supervise paddle
craft activities in all water conditions.
- When: Sunday, May 7 8am-5pm
- Where: Camp Lewallen, Silva MO.
- Who: Minimum age 15
Pre-Camp Swim Classification Tests
Pre-Camp Swim Classification Tests
This is an opportunity for your unit to have your annual BSA swim classification check done under the supervision of GSLAC-approved aquatics personnel in a pool. A unit swim classification record will be issued by GSLAC Aquatics personnel to each unit showing each participant's swim classification (swimmer, beginner, non-swimmer). Although these swim tests take place before summer camp, the camp aquatics director will review or retest any scout or leader whose skills appear to be inconsistent with their classification.

2022 CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers
CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Training
This training is a requirement for, but usually not included with, BSA Lifeguard training (Req #6). It uses the Red Cross blended learning platform to minimize classroom time.
