    • Training Opportunities
      • Council:
        • Leader Outdoor Experience– Two sessions of LOE will be offered at Beaumont Scout Reservation on October 17th and October 18th. Due to COVID-19 we have rearranged the training to be a one-day training with no camping. We will host two sessions with a max of 30 people total for each day. Training will start with check in at 7:00am and will end by 6:00pm. Volunteers can sign up for the course by visiting https://stlbsa.org/training/adult/cub-scout-leader-outdoor-experience/
        • Intro to Outdoor Skills– Two sessions of IOLS will be offered at Beaumont Scout Reservation on October 17th and October 18th.  Due to COVID-19 we have rearranged the training to be done in one day along with a virtual session. We will host two sessions with a max of 40 people total for each day. Link to sign up is coming soon!
        • Youth Protection Training– Trainings can be completed on your my.scouting account, attend a Zoom training, or in-person training. Sign up for upcoming course by visiting https://stlbsa.org/training/adult-required/youth-protection/
          • Wednesday, September 30th, 6:30pm- in-person at Beaumont
          • Monday, October 12th, 7:00pm- Zoom
          • Saturday, November 7th, 9:00am- Zoom
          • Wednesday, December 9th, 7:00pm- Zoom
        • Virtual and In-Person Merit Badges– We are offering a wide variety of in person and virtual merit badges September- December! Merit Badges are added each week and volunteers can find the offering by visiting: https://stlbsa.org/achievement/advancement/merit-badge-skill-centers/
      • District:
        • October 10- Troop Committee Challenge and SM/ASM Training: Perryville City Park, 7:30am-1:30pm. Register here
        • October 10- IOLS pre-meeting with Fuel Training and Cooking Session: Perryville City Park, 3pm-5pm
        • October 17- Cub Leader Training: Perryville City Park, 9am-Noon, $6, register here
        • October 24- IOLS: Braswell Pavilion at Camp Lewallen. Must attend October 10 pre-meeting before attending day long event at Camp Lewallen. Register here

      • The Greater St. Louis Area Council has released a new Updated Unit Operational Guidance plan. This also includes updates to Scouts BSA Advancement Policies. For details, visit the Council website.
      • The fall recruitment campaign has officially started! Please make sure to have a copy of your units’ calendar and leader contact information available to distribute at your sign-up nights. I highly suggest for all units to share recruitment info with all parents and ask them to publish on social media. To see and share the videos being shown to students, visit our YouTube
      • Take order popcorn will be available for pickup at Buchheit Logistics on Friday, November 13. Time is TBD. Unit kernels will get a notification closer to the date as to when product will be available to pick up.
      • Mark your calendars now for Scouting for Food! Our communities need our help now more than ever. November 14 is bag distribution day. November 21 is bag pickup day. Bags will be at the Ritter Service Center in early October.

Foodbanks and pantries have seem a dramatic increase in food insecurity since March. The 2020 Scouting for Food Drive is a vital community service to help those most at risk in our communities. Make sure your unit has a plan to make this drive as successful as possible.

As membership renewal season approaches all adult leaders must be current on their Youth Protection training. There are two options for online, instructor led course on November 7th and December 9th.
