Places to Stay
Tent Camping
Beaumont features a variety of options for tent camping. Campers can stay overnight at the exciting Cub World area (featuring a playground pirate ship, and amphitheater), spread out in one of the spacious camporee fields, enjoy the privacy of one of our individual campsites in Camp May, or hike to one of our outpost campsites in the back country. Most camping areas are equipped with seasonal water spigots and outdoor pit toilet facilities. Please contact our Camping Department if you have questions about water and bathroom availability for your camping area.

Beaumont's Cabins & Lodges
Cabin A and Cabin B (must be reserved separately)
Each cabin houses 20 in bunks and are joined by a breezeway. Each have a wood-burning fireplace, stove, refrigerator,, sink, indoor plumbing, and showers. Units provide their own firewood and cooking gear.
McBride Cabin, Jordan Cabin, Lantz Cabin, and Third Baptist Cabin
These four cabins have enough bunks to accommodate 20 people each. Each cabin contains a fireplace, woodstove, refrigerator, cookstove and dry sink. Water and latrines are outdoors. McBride and Jordan cabins are side-by-side should your unit need room for more than 20.
Beckett Cabin
This cabin is right behind the Emerson Center and houses 14 people in bunks. The smallest cabin available, it is heated by a furnace. The cabin has indoor plumbing, refrigerator, cookstove and sink. It does not have a fireplace or woodstove.
Wohl Lodge
This lodge is located next to the Emerson Center. It has a flushable toilet, a shower, and a full kitchen. This lodge sleeps 22.
Nagel Recreation Hall
Next to the horse barn, Nagel Rec. Hall is available for day-use (75 guests) or overnight-use (14 guests). The hall includes bunk beds, a refrigerator, cookstove, fireplace, and dry sink. Water and latrines are outdoors.
Sverdrup Lodge
Perfect for unit activities, courts of honor, or classroom meeting space, this lodge can accommodate 75 people and includes A/C, heat, restroom, and kitchen. Available for day-use only.
Adirondacks
Beaumont has 14 Adirondacks located in the Nagel area: group 1 (4 Adirondacks), group 2 (5 Adirondacks), group 3 (5 Adirondacks

Dining Hall & Meeting Spaces
Emerson Center
The Emerson Center is a large 2-story multi-use facility with ample room for large events. It features a dining hall, kitchen, theater, large meeting room, and 3 classrooms (blue, red, green). The bottom floor is air conditioned.
Cub World Activity Building
This facility features a large open room that is great for presentations and includes a fireplace. A small kitchen and bathrooms are also included.
Pavilions
Beaumont has 10 pavilions/shelters available for group - 6 at Cub World (Cub World Pavilion and shelters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5), 2 at Camp May (Lucas, Walz), and 2 at the camporee fields (Lane, Shippey).
Amphitheaters
There are two outdoor amphitheaters (council rings) available. 1 at Camp May and 1 at Cub World.
Chapel
Situated in a beautiful pine forest at Beaumont, the large open air chapel is available for religious services and ceremonies.

Camp May
Camp May hosts summer camp each year at Beaumont, but its cabins and campsites are widely used by Scouts and the general public the rest of the year. Key attractions in this area include the Emerson Center, swimming pool, and firearm ranges.
Cub World
Designed with Cub Scouts in mind, the area and amenities are open for use by all groups. Key attractions in this area include:
- Akela’s Council Ring: A small outdoor theater with seating that is perfect for an awards ceremony.
- Cub World Activity Building: This building has a large meeting room, bathrooms, and a kitchenette.
- Cub World pavilion and shelters
- 6 campsites: These campsites are connected and a close walk from the parking lot. An indoor shower facility with flushing toilets is accessible from all campsites.
- Fort Hussmann: This area provides kids the chance to dream about life in a frontier fort. The area contains a fort, fire ring, and picnic tables.
- Lost Beaumont Mine: Sand and tunnels abound in this unique play area near the scenic Antire Creek.
- Pirate Ship: Relive the days of the pirates. The ship contains cannons, a deck, and a lower level.
- Sports Field: A sports field is available to use softball, soccer, or any number of yard games.
- Play Area: Swing sets, rope climbing, boulder wall climbing, and playground equipment.
Nagel Horse Programs
Nagel is the home of the council’s popular horse programs. Cub Scouts can enjoy a picnic before boarding the wagons for horse-drawn hayrides and older youth in troops, crews and posts can schedule a horseback trail ride. Additionally, units can take advantage of 14 nearby Adirondack shelters for rent. Adirondacks are three-sided structures that each have four bunks. Units can also choose to tent camp in this area.
The Nagel Recreation Hall is available for rent to all units. Use it for unit activity or rent it out for the weekend. The hall includes 12 bunks, a refrigerator, cookstove, fireplace, and dry sink. Water and latrines are outdoors.
Camporee Fields
Lane, Shippey, Laemmli, and Nusser fields are wide-open areas with water and latrine facilities.

Campmaster Corps
The Greater St. Louis area Council Campmaster Corps is a group of selected, trained, and registered Scouters who serve at council weekend camps whenever Scouting units/Families use any part of the camp properties. Campmasters select their own time and frequency of service, but they usually serve two to four times a year. Members of the Campmaster Corps have a working knowledge of the BSA Outdoor Programs, the Patrol method, Troop and Unit operations, and a general understanding of the aims and objectives of the Scouting Outdoor Program.
Campmasters spend the weekend at the Council Camp Properties in a comfortable Building with simple amenities (kitchen, cooking utensils, private bathrooms, and beds) while providing service to Units camping at the property during the weekend. Typically, weekend duties begin when the Campmaster arrives on Friday and end on Sunday around noon (after the units have left the camp or when the Ranger says it is okay to leave). Campmasters can request their weekend and amount of service, and some Campmasters can serve as husband-and-wife teams for the weekend.
During the weekend, Campmasters are a visible presence at the camp property, visiting the Units at campsites and program facilities to provide assistance and ensure the safety and security of the Units and camp property by inspecting facilities and campsites at various times.

Horses
From September until May, several opportunities exist with the Greater St. Louis Area Council’s herd of horses. Come out and enjoy a trail ride, horse camp, or a tractor-drawn hayride!

TRAIL RIDES
Scouts BSA, Venturers, and Explorers can hit the trail, beginning and ending at Nagel Base located on Beaumont Scout Reservation. There is a 5-horse minimum and maximum of 12 horses. There must be two registered Unit Leaders per ride. Trail Rides are available for 1 and 1/2 hour, 3 hour, 6 hour and overnight trail rides. We have horses for your experience level.
Pricing for BSA Group In & Out of Council:
1.5 Hour Ride - $35/person
3 Hour Ride - $45/person
6 Hour Ride - $55/person
Overnight Ride - $100/person
Pricing for Non-BSA Groups
1 1/2 hour ride - $45/person
3 hour ride - $55/person
6 hour ride - $70/person
Overnight Rides - $110/person
Trail Rides are available Saturday and/or Sunday during the months of September, October, and January - May.
For March, Trail Rides are only available on Sunday.
Overnight rides are only available during the months of April, May, September, and October.
All rides begin and end at Nagel Base Camp located at Beaumont Scout Reservation.
All rides are weather permitting (i.e. rain, snow, severe cold, extreme heat).
Again, a minimum of five and a maximum of 12 horses can be reserved for trail rides. There must be two registered Unit Leaders per ride.
Trail Ride Recommendations – All riders must be a minimum of Scouts BSA age 11 or older.
1 1/2 hour and 3 hour rides are for Scouts BSA/Venturers 11 and older.
6 hour and overnight rides are recommended for Scouts BSA/Venturers.
For safety reasons no one can ride who is over the maximum weight limit of 230 pounds. Weight will be checked at camp. Rangers and/or trail guides have the authority to restrict any person from taking part in a horse-related activity who may pose, in their opinion, a safety risk to themselves, others, or the horses.

HORSEMANSHIP MERIT BADGE SKILL CENTER
The Horsemanship merit badge skills center will provide Scouts with the knowledge of how to care for, groom, and ride a horse. In addition to the riding, Scouts who take this merit badge will gain an understanding of horse instincts and behaviors to better their horsemanship.

We are excited to offer a Horsemanship Merit Badge skill center this March! The skill center consists of an online orientation and 3 sessions of in-person instruction.

HAY RIDES
Come down to Nagel for a tractor-drawn hayride! This is a great outdoor activity for Scouting units of all ages. There is one wagon available and each hayride wagon holds a maximum of 20 people. A minimum of two adults for the wagon is required. Hayrides can be reserved in one-hour blocks and come with the use of a picnic area.
- March 1 through May 15 & Sept. 1 through October 31
- Saturday: 5-6 p.m., 6-7 p.m., 7-8 p.m.
- Sunday: 5-6 p.m., 6-7 p.m., 7-8 p.m.
- $75 per wagon
Hayrides are not offered on Saturday nights during heavy camporee weekends.
A maximum of 20 people are allowed on a hayride wagon.

HORSE CAMP July 28 - August 3, 2024
Spend a week at an intermediate riding camp cantering around the property and learning more about horses. There are many trails to be ridden, competitions/games to be played on horseback in the riding ring, and other activities to further your horsemanship along with a chance to show off your advanced skills in a Cavalcade at the end of the week. Other activities while at Horse Camp are swimming, skeet shooting, climbing tower, ropes course, campfires, and much more.
All youth participants must be 14.
Registration is now open for this year’s Horse Camp.
Maximum number of participants is 20. The Greater St. Louis Area Council Trail Guide Committee provides adult leadership for Horse Camp.
