Join Scouting

Scouting programs and outdoor adventures give young people the opportunity and freedom to explore a world beyond the boundaries of everyday life. It presents them with chances to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence and develop leadership skills. These experiences not only help Scouts while they are young but also stay with them throughout their adult lives, growing into exceptional men and women who respect their family, community, religion, country, and themselves.

Cub Scouts

For Girls and Boys in grades K-5 (or ages 5-10). From the thrill of shooting an arrow to learning how to transform a block of wood into a race car, Cub Scouts is one thrill after another.

Scouts BSA

For Boys and Girls ages 11-17. This program is designed to promote character, leadership, citizenship and personal fitness in young people while instilling the fundamental values of Scouting.

Venturing

For Boys and Girls ages 13 (and have completed 8th grade) through 20. Venturing and Sea Scouts provide positive life experiences through exciting and engaging activities planned and supervised by the youth themselves.

Exploring

For young men and women ages 13 (and have completed 8th grade) through 20, Exploring provides students with an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of career fields and network with professionals already working in those fields.

Volunteer

Volunteering with Scouting America offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in shaping the leaders of tomorrow. Whether you’re passionate about mentoring youth, organizing events, or supporting outdoor adventures, there’s a role for everyone. Volunteer positions include becoming a Scout leader, helping with administrative tasks, assisting in fundraising efforts, or sharing a special skill like cooking, first aid, or outdoor navigation. By volunteering, you not only contribute to building character, citizenship, and life skills in young people but also join a community dedicated to making a positive difference.

Scouting America is deeply committed to the safety and well-being of every youth in its programs, which is why it upholds stringent youth protection policies. All volunteers must complete mandatory youth protection training, which educates them on identifying, preventing, and addressing potential risks. Additionally, all prospective volunteers undergo comprehensive background checks to ensure the highest standards of safety and accountability. These measures, combined with clear policies such as the “two-deep leadership” rule and strict guidelines for interactions, reflect Scouting America’s dedication to creating a secure environment where young people can thrive.

 

Summer Camps

Greater St. Louis Area Scouting offers a variety of day and overnight camps for youth ages 6-20. Learn more about each of them below.

Cub Scout Day Camps (Ages 6-11)

Day camps are a great place to have fun, build memories, learn new skills/hobbies in a safe, educational, environment. There are dozens of local opportunities to choose from.

Overnight camps range from 2-4 nights, are held at Scout properties, and are a safe, educational, and fun experience for all Cub Scout ages and ranks.

These camps are for Scouts BSA, Venturing, and Sea Scout units to attend together. Each camp offers unique programs with fantastic customer service.

STEM

The Greater St. Louis Area Council’s STEM Program introduces Scouts to the exciting worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through hands-on activities and innovative learning experiences. Scouts can earn STEM-related Nova and Supernova awards, participate in engaging workshops, and explore careers in STEM fields. By combining Scouting principles with practical applications, the program encourages problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking. Training
